The "Alfie Diaries"
began on January 31st, 2001 with an enquiry from Debbie ..
Subject: I am pleased to see you are in New Jersey ..
.. Because I have been
eyeing the Gitalaya website for some time, wishing that
your Cattery was closer (when it was still in South
Africa), and now, it seems, it is ..
I've been thinking of
owning a Burmese for about five years. The opportunity has
now presented itself, because my 16-year-old Siamese has
died of cancer, and there is room in my household for
another cat.
Do you have kittens
available? If so, how much do they cost? Although I think
it would be easier for a kitten to adjust to us
("us" is a friendly Lab, a friendly Domestic
Shorthair, two gentle children, and two cat-loving
adults), I am just as willing to adopt a grown cat.
Looking forward to hearing
from you.

Hi Gail.
After discussions with my
husband, who still doesn't understand why I won't adopt
from a shelter but is willing to humor me, I would like to
ask you to hold for me one of Poppet's male kittens. If
one seems especially friendly and/or not hyper or easily
scared, that's the one I'd like. Size and color are not
important.
Thank you for letting Pat
and I stay so long in your house on Thursday. If you ever
have the time and would be willing to talk about your life
in South Africa, I would be very interested to listen. I
think you must have lived there during one of the most
interesting periods of its history.
Debbie

Debbie came to visit & met a litter
of rumbunctious cream kittens ..
with their wonderfully affectionate dam - Poppet.
Poppet has an amazing purr - she sounds just like a
cricket!!
PS - Alfie is one of the
kittens in the banners that form part of the logos that grace the Gitalaya pages
..
